Spring Break re-cap

This spring break was quite different from any other spring break. We had to go to school on Monday and Tuesday to make up some of the snow days. I wasn't opposed to the idea because Andy and I didn't have plans but I was a little sad to know that my spring break would be shortened. On Wednesday, I took a day trip to Branson with my friend Ashley. We drove up there that morning and shopped and came back that evening. It was nice to just get away for the day. Thursday my friend Brandi came up from Little Rock and we spent the day shopping! We went to dinner with a friend from our community group that Brandi hadn't seen in a while. All the guys were at our house watching basketball. IT was so good to get to see her and catch up! Friday, mom took off and we hung out in the afternoon. We did a little shopping and then I helped her decorate their bathroom. They just painted their bedroom and bathroom, so she was needing some new decor. We focused more on the bathroom and went to Hobby Lobby and bought some things. I have a few pictures of some of the items that we came up with. Once all of the bedroom and bathroom are complete I will post pictures of it.
She had some curtains made out of this fabric and had some fabric left over so I decided we should cover a couple of canvases in the same fabric.
This is one of the canvases that I covered in the left over fabric. I can't wait to see what it looks like hung on their wall. My dad found an antique chair that he wanted to re-paint and recover the cushion. He painted the chair red and I recovered the cushion in this black and white damask.
I didn't know if I would have a hard time doing it but it was pretty easy. I will have to get a picture of the whole chair all put together! I love to decorate so I had a great time helping mom on Friday. Friday night, I went to dinner with my friend Lindsey and she came over and helped me finish this...
This is a burlap and fabric wreath. Lindsey and her sister made one and I knew I would want one. I had all of circles cut out so all Lindsey had to do was help me place and glue them onto the wreath. Right now it is hanging on my front door for Spring. I will eventually bring it inside and use it as a center piece on my kitchen table. Saturday we ate lunch with some friends and then headed to Bella Vista for the couples shower. Today I am going to REST! Even though I didn't go anywhere for spring break I haven't had any down time. So today I'm going to finish laundry, report cards, and just watch some movies. I can't believe spring break is already over and I go back to school tomorrow!

Mitch and Brittany's Couple Shower

Last night I helped host a couples shower for my future sister-in-law, Brittany. She is going to marry Andy's brother Mitch this June. I am so excited to have a sister-in-law! We had the shower at Andy's aunt Clair's house.  Andy's dad and uncle made pulled pork, and brisket. We had cole slaw, potatoes and salad for dinner. Clair and I made a great team and the shower turned out great! I made several decor items for the shower. The first being this Mr. and Mrs. banner! Their colors are red, black, and white so you will be seeing a lot of those colors!
Picture of them on the mantle
This was one of the arrangements Clair put together. I made the topiary balls and Clair had the candle and candle holder. Clair also made all of the table runners! She is very crafty!
Andy's mom found pictures of Mitch and Brittany and we had them spread out through the whole house. There were some pictures that were very similar, it was so neat!
This was the gift table. I made the canvas on the left for the guests to sign their well wishes to the couple!
I loved this! Clair found this at Signed, Sealed, and Delivered! It was perfect!

All their gifts! They got a lot of fun things! I am so excited for the both of them and can't wait to see what God has in store for their marriage! Can't wait until June!

I'm Ready for Spring

The weather this past week has been so nice and warm! I'm hoping it will stay that way from now on..but I'm sure it won't! Last weekend Andy worked on landscaping and finished it except for the planting. Today, he bought mulch and moved some of the shrubs out of the flower bed. We still haven't planted anything yet..I'm just afraid it may be a little too early. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can plant some pretty flowers! While he was working on the flower bed, I was getting in the mood to decorate for Spring. I set my table a few weeks ago and have loved the white and green together! I'm not sure if I will change it before Easter.
I didn't take the picture with the light on so that's why it looks really dark. I have green/white place mats, round rattan mat, white dishes, green napkin with bamboo napkin ring.
Close up of place setting
I also decided to put up my Spring flag in our flower bed. My friend Carly bought this for me for my birthday last year and I love it!! I couldn't wait to put it out!
I also hung up my Spring decor on my front door. My aunt made this for me a few years ago!
I'm officially ready for Spring to come and stay for a while! I did some more crafting today..will post pictures later. I'm also going to attempt (key word) to make a wreath out of burlap and fabric. We will see how that goes! Hope you all had a great Saturday!

Project Weekend

This weekend Andy and I were full of projects. My projects consisted of making canvases and topiary balls. On Saturday my friends Lindsey and Shelby came over to help me craft some projects for Andy's brothers wedding shower. I made some of these...
I made 3 red and 3 white. I'm not sure how we are going to decorate with these...either hang them or put them on a table. I love the way these look but they take FOREVER to make! I also made a canvas for the guests to sign at the shower. Its not completely finished yet but when it is I'll post a picture. We are also going to make a banner that says mr. and mrs. to hang on the mantle at the shower. It isn't made yet so pictures to come soon! A teacher at my school wanted me to make a canvas for her daughter. She is trying out for Cheerleader/Dance team at FHS and she wanted something for that occasion. I'm really happy with how it turned out!
Those were my projects for the weekend! Andy had a much bigger project on his hands. We decided to do some landscaping this year with our tax refund. Andy and I went to Lowe's and picked out the blocks that we would use. We haven't done any planting of shrubs or flowers but the bed is made and it looks so good. Andy also decided to put some sprinklers in the bed so he dug a trench and hooked up the sprinklers to the pipe. I can't wait until it is completely finished! He worked all day yesterday and half the day today on it. I helped a little today but not much! Here is what we have done so far.
This is after he dug up some of the sod and figured out where he wanted the blocks to go.
Here is the pipe with the sprinklers connected before he covered it up with dirt.
The trench on the side of our house with the piping for the sprinklers
We had to make sure the sprinklers worked and they did!!
Almost complete..we added caps to the top
Close-up of what it looks like with the caps on top
The finished product!! I am so happy with how it turned out! Now all we need to do is get some shrubs and flowers planted!

New decor

I haven't been happy with the decor over our bed for quite some time. I do change my mind a lot so this wasn't a surprise to Andy. Over Christmas break, I was looking on some blogs and found this really fun idea with a monogram. I love anything that has my initial so I was determined to make this work for our bedroom. I had the big initial and 3 of the frames already so I only had to buy the 2 8X10 frames. This project cost a total of $20.00! You can't beat that! Here is the project in stages:
This is the big initial that is in the center, I received this for a wedding gift and love it!
Here are 3 of the frames: The top one with the A is the one I bought at Hobby Lobby. I used the computer to find a font that I liked then printed it off! All of the other frames have pictures from our wedding. The green frame I already had and the bronze frame I had but tweaked a little. It was silver and I spray painted it this crackled bronze. I was pleased with how it turned out.
Here are the other 3 frames with pictures and my initial.
This is the finished product!! All of it has been done since Christmas but we were just now able to piece it together and hang it on our wall. I love, love, love it! I don't think I'll be changing my mind about this for quite some time. I know Andy will be happy about that!

Bye Bye

This week our school district decided to vote to make up some of our snow days. I wasn't surprised by this decision because we have missed so many days (10 to be exact). We had 3 options to vote on. 1. Come 2 days on Spring Break and 2 Saturdays 2. Come 2 Saturdays 3. Come 2 days of Spring Break I wasn't really thrilled with any of these options but since I'm not going anywhere for Spring Break I decided to vote to come the first two days of Spring Break. There was no way I was voting for a Saturday!! All the votes were counted and we are saying bye bye to 2 days of Spring Break. We will go to school on that Monday and Tuesday and will be off  the rest of the week. :( I'm not thrilled but it could be worse (coming on Saturdays). So while all of you are on your nice week long vacations at the beach, I will be teaching my kiddos. Try not to rub it in :) I hope you have enjoyed this lovely weather we have been having...I think its about to change :(
