The website is www.thriftychickdecor.blogspot.com she had some great ideas for decorating. I know not everyone likes to decorate the tops of their cabinets but I have to have something up there. Before I changed it I had vases and greenery which was fine but I was ready for a change. I didn't take a before picture but here is the after:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wish I had more space between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling. I bought the green vase in Colorado and the wood bowl was a birthday gift from my friends Sarah and Cat</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I haven't been to the lake since high school. We had a great time cruising, tubing, knee boarding, and cliff jumping. I only participated in the cruising! I was so afraid that it wasn't going to be nice but it ended up being a perfect day. We hope to make this an annual trip!<br />

</div>
As most of you know chevron is quite popular right now. I love how it looks. I have seen it in bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, and hallways. I recently made a chevron tray for my living room. I decided to go a little further with the chevron and do a wall in our living room. Our living room has an odd shape and there is one wall that isn't very big. I decided that would be the perfect wall to do! First, I had to convince Andy to do it! It did take a bit of convincing but I finally got him to agree. So this past Friday night and Saturday morning we worked on the wall. The hardest part was figuring out the width, how many chevrons, and then measuring it all off. I left all of that up to Andy! I just assisted! Here is the wall before:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hL1frcqKcHI/T-u3CmT6mkI/AAAAAAAABiw/8U2_742RfOU/s1600/photo+%252829%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hL1frcqKcHI/T-u3CmT6mkI/AAAAAAAABiw/8U2_742RfOU/s320/photo+%252829%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to keep the neutral in with the chevron.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NlvsQAtzag8/T-u3abhuxtI/AAAAAAAABi4/arOQPb0UYKc/s1600/photo+(30).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NlvsQAtzag8/T-u3abhuxtI/AAAAAAAABi4/arOQPb0UYKc/s320/photo+(30).JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The start of measuring off the chevrons. It is hard to see but we used a chalk line to make the lines straight. It is such a handy tool!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EnMd2kzRg-g/T-u3tj-N1lI/AAAAAAAABjA/DolHU7CZ0lk/s1600/photo+(33).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EnMd2kzRg-g/T-u3tj-N1lI/AAAAAAAABjA/DolHU7CZ0lk/s320/photo+(33).JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then we had to tape it off. This was the most time consuming part! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z_vNTcIyFSM/T-u3-CLZ1RI/AAAAAAAABjI/wCPU4mFpfzE/s1600/photo+(31).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z_vNTcIyFSM/T-u3-CLZ1RI/AAAAAAAABjI/wCPU4mFpfzE/s320/photo+(31).JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I painted it green because my walls are neutral and I wanted to add a pop of color. I definitely accomplished that! Most of the decor in my living room is green, cream, and brown. So this green went well with the rest of the living room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qmNjCPiujnc/T-u4dp04zyI/AAAAAAAABjQ/bN4Qp03KaoE/s1600/photo+(32).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qmNjCPiujnc/T-u4dp04zyI/AAAAAAAABjQ/bN4Qp03KaoE/s320/photo+(32).JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And the finished product! I love love how it turned out! The green is definitely brighter than I thought it would be but since it isn't on a focal wall I think it will grow on me. So happy with it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It is hard to believe it has already been 3 years, the time has flown by. We had a low-key celebration with just going to a nice dinner. We decided to not do any big gifts this year. We had dinner at Table Mesa in Bentonville. It was really good!! We did take a picture at home before we left...<br />

He is an official engineer now! HA! I am so so proud of him! He has worked so hard and it has paid off. I have to brag on him a little bit. His test was on a Friday in April in Little Rock. I took the day off and we spent 2 nights there. He had to be at the test site at 7:15. I took him and dropped him off, brought him lunch at noon and picked him up at 5:45. It was literally an ALL DAY test! I could not have done that! After he was finished we went and celebrated with friends at the restaurant, BRAVO! It was so so good! While we were gone on our mini-vacay to Charlotte he found out that he passed!! If you know Andy he doesn't get too excited about much. I was more excited than he was. There were over 100 people that took the test and only 25 passed! My smart husband was one of them! Now that he has his license he will get a raise and a stamp that he can use on his projects. So exciting!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know its hard to see, but this is the stamp he will use on projects! We celebrated his birthday and getting his license at his mom's on Saturday. She made him a cake and got an ice cream cake from DQ. She had them put his stamp on the cake! So neat!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We had a great time celebrating Andy.His parents live on Lake Brittany in Bella Vista and their neighbors have a pontoon boat. We took the boat out and relaxed on the lake all afternoon! It was so nice! We had a cookout with family and friends that night and had a wonderful time! On Sunday, we celebrated his birthday with my family at Marketplace. After lunch we enjoyed some time by the pool at my parents house. It was a great weekend!</div>

Andy would prefer I didn't because it would be much cheaper. Ha! I did try to not spend a lot of money on this bathroom update. I used several things that I already had and just painted them to fit with my new color scheme: gray, white, and yellow. We first painted the bathroom gray and I love how it turned out! Here is a look at the new bathroom:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r67y8zRn10s/T9Zzb5Gr98I/AAAAAAAABhk/e3U7ffGu0RU/s1600/photo+(16).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r67y8zRn10s/T9Zzb5Gr98I/AAAAAAAABhk/e3U7ffGu0RU/s320/photo+(16).JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I already had the yellow frame. I made the poster inside of the frame. The poster is foam board with scrapbook paper folded into fans and hot glued onto the board. It wasn't too hard but it did take some time. I got this idea from my friend, Leah. She had created a bigger one for a bridal shower she was hosting. I loved it and thought it would go great in the bathroom. I think it turned out pretty good!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c1wj4FXIelk/T9Z0JsBK50I/AAAAAAAABhs/6rXkJp2M4Ds/s1600/photo+(21).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c1wj4FXIelk/T9Z0JsBK50I/AAAAAAAABhs/6rXkJp2M4Ds/s320/photo+(21).JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I found the sign at Whimsy Whoo in Springdale. It is very fitting for above the bathtub. I bought the white frames and rod iron scrolls at Hobby Lobby. I used left over scrapbook paper to put in the frames. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uxHyyA5Znyk/T9Z1zi3oTmI/AAAAAAAABh0/I_kpDA-IxXQ/s1600/photo+(17).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uxHyyA5Znyk/T9Z1zi3oTmI/AAAAAAAABh0/I_kpDA-IxXQ/s320/photo+(17).JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A look at the mirror once again! So proud of my husband and his handiness! I don't know what I would do without him! So glad to be finished with the bathroom, now on to the bedroom. Pics coming soon!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love it! I was looking on pinterest for some chevron ideas and I found a tray that I thought I could attempt for my first chevron project. As most of you know my husband is very handy. He actually did most of the work, I helped paint and tape. Needless to say, I'm pretty proud of our tray.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sAWco7mvrBA/T9YfjV69y0I/AAAAAAAABhY/JaJ0kBPdOQc/s1600/photo+(19).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sAWco7mvrBA/T9YfjV69y0I/AAAAAAAABhY/JaJ0kBPdOQc/s320/photo+(19).JPG" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm hoping to put it on our ottoman in our living room! I'll post a picture of that later! If your interested in painting chevron I would highly suggest googling how to paint chevron. </div>

I was tired of just the plain mirror with nothing around it. I looked on pinterest and found some inspiration like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tQuapEU-sg8/T84pxBJ3QmI/AAAAAAAABg0/z4gYQwH9ROk/s1600/bathroom1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tQuapEU-sg8/T84pxBJ3QmI/AAAAAAAABg0/z4gYQwH9ROk/s1600/bathroom1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved the clean look with the molding at the top and down the sides of the mirror.</div>

Here is a little recap of things that have happened this past Spring. I finished my National Boards and mailed them at the end of March! Woo Hoo! I took my exam in May and will know if I passed in November. I have had two of my closest friends have babies, one in February and the other in March. They are the sweetest babies ever! I just love it when I get to see them and love on them! Andy had his big exam in April to earn his license for becoming an engineer. We found out last Tuesday that he PASSED!! So proud of him and all of his hard work! He is one smart man! I got out of school so much earlier this year and am super excited about my long summer! We just had a mini-vacay to Charlotte, North Carolina. We went over Memorial Day weekend and watched a NASCAR race, shopped, went to some museums, and white water rafting! We had a great time! I am so excited about this summer and ready to relax and read some books. We have also redecorated the house since my last post. My living room has all new decor and we are working on our master bedroom and bathroom right now. Pictures coming soon!Hayleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02739953656671628351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675329160090852282.post-86799549586143117102012-01-15T10:30:00.000-06:002012-01-15T10:30:51.515-06:00Gray, white, and yellowLast fall my parents asked me to help them decorate their guest bathroom. I was so excited to take this on! I had the perfect color scheme in mind...gray, white, and yellow. I have seen a lot of these colors put together and I love how they look. They painted the bathroom walls a dark gray (it almost looks black) and my dad and I painted the cabinets black. Mom and I found some yellow knobs at Anthropologie in Chicago last October. It took a while to find things to hang on the walls but I think what we came up with looks great!<br />

My living room walls have been bare for over 6 months and I was ready to get something on them! I got lots of gift cards to Hobby Lobby, Pier 1, I.O. Metro, and Pottery Barn. I spent one afternoon shopping with my aunt and we bought a lot! I finally feel like it is coming together. I still have one wall that is bare but I know what is going on it! Here is our new look:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Yhm6A_lKbk/TwMKktshNHI/AAAAAAAABdE/kQs2xeraea0/s1600/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Yhm6A_lKbk/TwMKktshNHI/AAAAAAAABdE/kQs2xeraea0/s320/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Found these mirrors at I.O. Metro. They have barnwood on them, which I love!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xVoX-AGQg8U/TwMKrKBZl5I/AAAAAAAABdM/CTJPtF4MRHI/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xVoX-AGQg8U/TwMKrKBZl5I/AAAAAAAABdM/CTJPtF4MRHI/s320/photo.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">All of the pillows with green are new. I bought the two in the back at I.O. and the ruffle pillow at TJ Maxx</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sKthOH9Q9UU/TwMKymXSFTI/AAAAAAAABdU/clmjdHQwx7Y/s1600/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sKthOH9Q9UU/TwMKymXSFTI/AAAAAAAABdU/clmjdHQwx7Y/s320/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I saw this look at Pottery Barn and wanted to try it. I already had the mirror and the plates, so I just had to put it together!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cjwYXzh6CkA/TwMK810AJKI/AAAAAAAABdc/PM6F-XvL5NY/s1600/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cjwYXzh6CkA/TwMK810AJKI/AAAAAAAABdc/PM6F-XvL5NY/s320/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is by far my favorite in my living room! My aunt came over and helped me organize it all. I love love how it turned out! I used frames, letters, keys, mirrors, initials, and rod iron. It fits the wall perfectly! All I need now is a lamp to go in the corner!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9JtdRx0S94o/TwMLB03wpOI/AAAAAAAABdk/C_Ni49FIvq8/s1600/photo+%25284%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9JtdRx0S94o/TwMLB03wpOI/AAAAAAAABdk/C_Ni49FIvq8/s320/photo+%25284%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I took down the blinds in the living room and put up roman shades! It is hard to take a picture but you can see it a little. This changed the whole look of the living room! I have had so much fun re-decorating and am so happy with the new changes! I will post more pics when I finish the other 2 walls.</div>Hayleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02739953656671628351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675329160090852282.post-57045528919975979322012-01-01T12:32:00.000-06:002012-01-01T12:32:09.597-06:00New Years Eve 2011Andy and I hosted a New Years Eve party with some of our friends last night. We haven't hosted a party in a long time so I was pretty excited! I was wanting to come up with something fun that everyone could remember this night by. I came across Kara Paslay Designs blog and she had posted some New Years Eve ideas. I attempted to re-create her photo backdrop idea and took pictures of the guests as they arrived. It was super fun and I think everyone enjoyed it! Thanks to Kara for the awesome idea! Here are some snapshots of the guests:<br />

We had a great time celebrating Thanksgiving with my family on Thanksgiving day and Andy's family on Friday. Since I have a few days off for Thanksgiving break I always decorate for Christmas. This year, I started decorating on Tuesday night. I had my friend, Maggie come over and help me get my trees up and work on my mantle. I am happy how everything turned out, especially my tree! I bought some different mesh this year and wasn't too thrilled about it at first, but it definitely is growing on me.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TSOBcFp3DhY/TtK_YDB11QI/AAAAAAAABYA/Xa4uE1IEeic/s1600/photo+%252812%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TSOBcFp3DhY/TtK_YDB11QI/AAAAAAAABYA/Xa4uE1IEeic/s320/photo+%252812%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My tree! This year, I added the large ornaments and did different mesh and ribbon. My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January and had surgery in April to remove his prostate. My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer in September and had a double mastectomy this past Wednesday. This was a first for cancer in our immediate family. I have struggled with understanding why this has happened but have realized it is not in my hands it is in God's. God has a reason for everything! This Thanksgiving is going to be a celebration for both my dad and my grandmother. We are so thankful that they are both cancer free! We are so blessed to have both of them healthy. Not only am I thankful that they are cancer free but I'm so thankful that they will be able to celebrate another Thanksgiving! My family has so much to be thankful for this year! What are you thankful for??Hayleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02739953656671628351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675329160090852282.post-45628572443537998542011-10-30T09:11:00.000-05:002011-10-30T09:11:53.361-05:00Murder Mystery Dinner-80's Style<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Last night we went to our first murder mystery dinner. Everyone in our community group was invited and it was so much fun! The theme was 80's and everyone was assigned a specific part. I got the part of Lany Lou Metton, an Olympic Gold Medalist Gymnast who was also a kleptomaniac. I was pretty excited about this part, except for figuring out what to wear. I was hoping to find a leotard but that didn't work out. I think I found a pretty good outfit though!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kBrvOD8eXgE/Tq1VTatoH4I/AAAAAAAABU0/4PyNKnH0bh8/s1600/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kBrvOD8eXgE/Tq1VTatoH4I/AAAAAAAABU0/4PyNKnH0bh8/s320/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I bought the shorts, tank, and flag appliques. I had a the gold medal and borrowed the flag from my parents. My good friend and neighbor Whitney did my makeup. Andy didn't have a specific part so he got to dress up however he wanted. We went for the Maverick look in Top Gun. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iyziqIBWtbA/Tq1V5uhs_vI/AAAAAAAABVE/Sq_67ycadqk/s1600/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iyziqIBWtbA/Tq1V5uhs_vI/AAAAAAAABVE/Sq_67ycadqk/s320/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I found this flight suit at Cheap Thrills and was pumped! It was a little small so that is why he tied the arms at his waist. He had the aviators and the dog tags are my dad's. Once we got to the party, we had to switch over into our character. I was unsure of how this would all work but it went really well. It was about a 2 hour party and we had appetizers, dinner, and dessert. We mingled with the other guests to try and figure out whodunit! Here are some of the other guests at the party!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ugbMgX3QHas/Tq1Xv0FPwXI/AAAAAAAABVs/5vfDEwuTuGI/s1600/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ugbMgX3QHas/Tq1Xv0FPwXI/AAAAAAAABVs/5vfDEwuTuGI/s320/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Base Squealey-Rocker</div><br />

I have been super busy since we returned and haven't had time to post some pics until now! We had such a great time visiting Sarah, sweet baby Hadley, and Elizabeth. It was just a girls weekend and we had a blast! Mom and I flew in on Friday morning and went to check in at our hotel then hit up Magnificent Mile for some shopping. We went to H&M, Forever 21, Macy's, North Face, and Crate and Barrel. We ate lunch at Cheesecake factory and then decided to do a double decker bus tour. It ended up being one of the best parts of the trip.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p_FJp1En17w/TqYORLNE8rI/AAAAAAAABSU/Wjth5hjYNoA/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p_FJp1En17w/TqYORLNE8rI/AAAAAAAABSU/Wjth5hjYNoA/s320/005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Mom and I on top of the double decker bus</div><br />

On Friday night, we met Sarah and her mom at her apartment and went to dinner. I was so excited to see Sarah and her precious baby Hadley.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pbVvOmV4JcU/TqYS-ggSfRI/AAAAAAAABUE/a7Vi8gGNx9E/s1600/050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pbVvOmV4JcU/TqYS-ggSfRI/AAAAAAAABUE/a7Vi8gGNx9E/s320/050.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

It was a super sweet picture. I just loved seeing Hadley and holding her, however; it did not give me the urge to have a baby! Ha! We went to dinner at Wildfire and it was delicious! After dinner, we went back to their apartment and mom and I headed back to our hotel. We got up early on Saturday and had breakfast at the Original Pancake House and went back to the bus tour. We went to Navy Pier and had a great time! We couldn't have asked for a better weekend, the weather was perfect!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AL7sJYCwd0A/TqYTzuBSlpI/AAAAAAAABUU/N7ybrjLyQAI/s1600/044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AL7sJYCwd0A/TqYTzuBSlpI/AAAAAAAABUU/N7ybrjLyQAI/s320/044.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

It was pretty fun but it showed us how out of shape we were! We spent a few hours at Navy Pier and met Sarah for lunch at Genos East Pizza. Mom had never had Chicago style pizza before. After lunch, we shopped some more on Michigan Avenue and called it an early night. We went non-stop all weekend! On Sunday, we woke up and walked down State and then met Sarah at Tavern on Rush for brunch. We got to eat outside and enjoy the fresh air. We then went back to State to do some last minute shopping before heading to the airport. Mom and I had a great time and miss them so much! Sarah and Riley will be moving closer in December and we can't wait to go see them in Little Rock and love on that baby! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4gSxmDxMpWI/TqYVTDnnxWI/AAAAAAAABUs/geJQR5d4SC4/s1600/071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4gSxmDxMpWI/TqYVTDnnxWI/AAAAAAAABUs/geJQR5d4SC4/s320/071.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Dustin's parents have a place on the lake so we headed down there for the weekend. We got there late Friday night, built a fire and talked on the deck. We woke up on Saturday and went and rode four wheelers around the lake. We rode for about an hour then went back and watched the Razorback game. We were about to turn it off after halftime but thought we would keep watching. We were so glad that we did! It was a great game in the second half. After the game, we went and rode some more. We decided to find a trail that went by the lake, we thought we found one and decided to try it out. We get close to the lake and realize that we are going to have to cross a little bit of water to get across. I am a little nervous because in my mind I'm thinking...we are going to get stuck. Sure enough, we got stuck! Literally it sunk in the mud. I jumped off and my shoe sunk in the mud as well. I wasn't too thrilled about that. Dustin gets to the other side and is going to try and pull Andy out. Well after 3 or 4 tries I'm really starting to get nervous. It ends up taking all 4 of us to get it out. Dustin and Andy are pushing from behind, I'm pulling from the front, and Carly is gunning it on their 4-wheeler. Finally, it was a success! The girls (I) decided to not ride too much longer after that incident. We went to Cajun Broiler in Hot Springs! It was really good. After dinner we watched the Florida/Alabama game. For some reason, I got really tired after dinner. I watched a little of the game and then fell asleep at 9:00. We woke up this morning packed up and drove home. We had such a great time with them at the lake! Hopefully we can go again!<br />

I know its pretty early but I just couldn't wait! We are going to be out of town for 2 weekends in a row in a few weeks so I decided that I better get to decorating before we leave. I have decorated the inside but not by my front door yet, I will hopefully get to that sometime this week. I wish I could say all of these ideas were my own, but unfortunately they are not! There are a few that are but a lot are from the website, Pinterest. If you have never heard of it you should check it out! It is awesome! Here is some pics of my decor:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H7lxOdbBKsc/TnX12K1BXoI/AAAAAAAABRg/U5UAQeF4opo/s1600/photo+%252822%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H7lxOdbBKsc/TnX12K1BXoI/AAAAAAAABRg/U5UAQeF4opo/s320/photo+%252822%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">All of these pictures were taken with my Iphone so they aren't very good. This is on my entry way table. I made the burlap banner.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aEo9a2gTYgY/TnX1vmjBSUI/AAAAAAAABRU/Ihoszg-9P70/s1600/photo+%252819%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aEo9a2gTYgY/TnX1vmjBSUI/AAAAAAAABRU/Ihoszg-9P70/s320/photo+%252819%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On one of my side tables. I don't quite understand why the builder didn't put any in when building the house. There was definitely plenty of space for some. So last weekend Andy and I made a trip to Lowes to look at some cabinets. We found some unfinished ones that we liked and they were on sale, so I pushed a little harder to purchase them! I know he was tired of hearing me complain about not having any, so he gave in. :) Since Andy is so handy I knew he could paint and hang them in no time. We bought two cabinets to put on the ends of the wall and some boards to put in the middle for shelves. Andy finished it today and I am so excited. Who knew I would get excited about having cabinets and shelves in the laundry room! Here are some pics of the process:<br />

She had bought an old window and wanted to put fabric in the glass part. I loved this idea but wasn't sure how we were going to make the fabric stick to the glass. We first tried to staple the fabric and that didn't work so then we tried hot glue. It worked really well! Maggie and I both helped Lauren pick out the fabric to use and I love love how it turned out. I'm really wanting to do one of these in my living room. It wasn't a very expensive project and not very time consuming. I may be hunting for a window! Here is the final project:<br />

This was a super fun project and I am so glad I got to help Lauren with it!</div>Hayleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02739953656671628351noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4675329160090852282.post-58126391866565689482011-09-04T12:43:00.000-05:002011-09-04T12:43:05.450-05:00In one month...In one month I will be going here:<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Chicago Illinois" src="http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/illinois/images/s/illinois-chicago.jpg" /></div><div>CHICAGO!!! I am super excited to get to return to this fun city! My mom and I are going to fly up to Chicago to see one of my good friends and her sweet baby girl! I went to Chicago a few summers ago with Andy and we had such a great time. It is by far one of my favorite cities! My mom has never been so she is even more excited! We are going for a weekend so we are going to have to pack in a lot of things in a short amount of time. I'm sure we will do some shopping, eating, sightseeing, and loving on Sarah's sweet baby girl Hadley. I am already counting down the days! </div><div><br />

I really didn't think people would like it and want me to make one for them! I just thought it was a cute wreath! I have been busy busy making the wreaths! Here are a couple that I have made so far:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VvmlQPYxsBY/TlMBqjunyBI/AAAAAAAABQ0/66jnTWeQ71c/s1600/photo+%252811%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VvmlQPYxsBY/TlMBqjunyBI/AAAAAAAABQ0/66jnTWeQ71c/s320/photo+%252811%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is probably my favorite! I made this for a friend of mine to hang in her Arkansas room. LOVE it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-35HT1sdkOdk/TlMBopirtyI/AAAAAAAABQw/67sAdxJ6tM8/s1600/photo+%252810%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-35HT1sdkOdk/TlMBopirtyI/AAAAAAAABQw/67sAdxJ6tM8/s320/photo+%252810%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This one is for my friend who is an OSU alum. The boys were having a movie night so I decided this would be a good night for crafting. Razorback football is right around the corner so I wanted to make something I could hang on my door. I found a tutorial on how to make a ribbon wreath and decided that was what I wanted to do. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a foam wreath, t-pins, and ribbon. That is all you need to make the wreath..pretty simple right? After picking out the ribbon we cut it into strips. Then you fold the ribbon and put t-pin in it and stick into wreath. I love how it turned out! It was pretty time consuming but well worth it!<br />

I havent really been happy with our living room decor ever since we got our new furniture. I thought I would like only using brown, cream, blue, and green. Well...no! I got tired of those colors and needed to see more variety! I bought new pillows from Pier1 that has more colors first. Then I decided to re-do all of the walls in my living room. I have only conquered one wall. The other two are still bare. Here was the before:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VPgHJP7mgyw/TkErzslfPeI/AAAAAAAABQQ/jK6zxLZNXuA/s1600/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VPgHJP7mgyw/TkErzslfPeI/AAAAAAAABQQ/jK6zxLZNXuA/s320/photo+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Not bad..just still limited on colors..I have now SOLD these to my friend!! YIPPEE! Here is the after:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WHdRoPHHtG4/TkEr1sXy-dI/AAAAAAAABQU/iKfxphJViQM/s1600/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WHdRoPHHtG4/TkEr1sXy-dI/AAAAAAAABQU/iKfxphJViQM/s320/photo+%25281%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I know if we painted our walls in the living room it would help too! But..the layout of our living room is weird and we would have to paint a lot! So here is the finished product! I love open back frames and I found the green and turquoise at the Station and Daisies and Olives. I already owned the "P" and the wire mirrors. The red frames are actually picture frames that I bought from Hobby Lobby. I am pleased with this new change and love that it brings more color into our living room. One wall down..2 to go! I have also been wanting to finish our master bathroom. I really wanted a cabinet above our toilet but since I haven't gotten that I decided to find something and hang. This is what I came up with:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UnSbE9D4ohY/TkEr3QLjiRI/AAAAAAAABQY/BtZk7tGQ7oU/s1600/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UnSbE9D4ohY/TkEr3QLjiRI/AAAAAAAABQY/BtZk7tGQ7oU/s320/photo+%25283%2529.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I bought the red frame and yellow mirror at Daisies and Olives..love that place! The other wall hanging I bought at the Station. It was hot pink and I spray painted it lime green. I am pretty pleased with the chhhanges so far! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
