Long week...

This week has been super busy and LONG. We finally made it a whole week of school! It has definitely been nice but the kiddos have been a little wild. This week we had parent teacher conferences, 2 field trips, and a Valentine's party! The students enjoyed every bit of it and so did I but...I'm worn out! I wanted to share a few Valentine treats that I made for my co-workers. I really really wish I could decorate cupcakes all cute and fancy but I just haven't figured out how! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I decided to make strawberry cupcakes with strawberry icing and red sprinkles.
See...I need help!! They aren't very pretty looking.
I think the heart picks make them look a little better
I found these cute cupcake boxes at Wal-Mart. I wish I could find boxes like this for any occasion. I had fun making these cupcakes and hope my co-workers enjoyed them! I hope everyone has enjoyed the lovely weather this week! I know I have! Andy and I are going to Dallas for the weekend! I'm excited to get out of town and spend some time with him! Have a great weekend!

Early Valentine's Date

Andy and I are celebrating Valentine's Day tonight because I have parent teacher conferences tomorrow until 7. So..we are going to dinner at Noodles and going to see Just Go With It tonight. I'm super excited to spend some  quality time with the hubs! I love him and am so thankful for all he does for me! He isn't into gifts so he is always hard to buy for. Pack Rat was having a huge sale today starting at 12. We went last year and Andy found a couple of things so we decided to go again this year. There was a line waiting for the store to open! We got there just in time and he found a Patagonia fleece, North Face shoes, and a North Face lightweight jacket. He never buys anything for himself so we bought all of it! He deserves it since he has to put up with me :) Everything was 50% off! You can't beat that! I then headed to school to work for a couple of hours to get ready for Parent Teacher Conferences. When I came home, I saw this...
and this..
and this...
LOVE me some Peanut M&Ms. I love flowers!! I just told him about the Chinese Laundry wedges yesterday! I love all of my presents! The hubby did very well! I'm so excited about dinner and a movie tonight! I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

V-DAY projects

Since I have had so many snow days..I have been doing a lot of looking and searching for Valentine projects. I came across this blog http://www.theidearoom.net/ and found lots of fun Valentine projects! One project that was mentioned was a rose topiary ball made of tissue. I was super excited about this project and decided I wanted to make one. It does take a long time but I have had plenty of time with all my snow days! Here is what it looks like:
All you need to make this is a styrofoam ball, tissue streamers, and hot glue. For a tutorial go here: http://www.theidearoom.net/2011/01/tissue-rosette-kissing-balls.html

I also made this Valentine canvas! I bought the wood letters, white canvas, and 1 page of Valentine scrapbooking paper. I modge podged the scrapbook paper on the canvas then painted the letters red and hot glued them onto the paper. Very easy and not expensive!
So as you can see, not much to it! Anyone could do this!

WOWZA!

Well..I'm stuck at home again today with more snow. This time we have gotten 18-20 inches of SNOW!! I have never seen this much snow in my life! It is so pretty! I want to get out and play in it but then I would be cold and I would rather stay inside where its nice and warm. Andy went to work for a couple of hours and is on his way home! Finally, we will have a snow day together!! Here are some pictures of the snow:

A look out our front door..this was taken at 8:00 this morning, I'm sure there is a lot more snow now!
I'm hoping to get out with my neighbor later today and walk around and take pictures! I will post more if I do!  Today is my dad's birthday!! What a day! Happy Birthday dad! I love you so much!

Snow Fun

This afternoon my neighbor Whitney asked me to build a snowman with her. I agreed to go out and help her. When we were trying to make the snowman we were having problems so we decided to make an igloo instead. She had never made one before and I remember making one with my dad when I was little. So we got our tubs and went to work. It really didn't take too long!!
The beginning stages of our igloo

The finished igloo..I was pretty proud of ourselves! We added a dormat and..
black and white flag and a white sheet
Two talented women!! We are pretty pumped about our igloo!! Hopefully it will stay up for a while.

Movie and Dessert

Last night Whitney and I decided to have a movie night at my house. The boys were going to the Razorback game so it was just the two of us. I decided to make this yummy dessert that my aunt made a while back. I made cinnamon apple parfaits!! They are super easy and so yummy!! This is all you need:
1 cup of oatmeal
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of butter, melted
21 oz. of apple pie filling, warmed
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1 qt. of vanilla ice cream

You mix the oatmeal, brown sugar, and butter together. Put in an 8X8 pan and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Let it cool then crumble it up.
Warm up the apples and add the cinnamon
Put the oatmeal mixture in a bowl, top with apples, then ice cream!
YUMMY!! It was just what we needed!
We watched the movie Just Wright and enjoyed staying inside and being warm!! This is Snow day #3. I have been inside for the past 2 days and I think I'm going to try and venture out today!! It's driving me nuts!

Snow Day + Craft Day

I have another snow day!! The snow is coming down thick and I love sitting by the fire wrapped up in a blanket. Since today is the first day of February I decided to go ahead and decorate my kitchen table for Valentines Day. This is the first time to decorate it for this holiday and I didn't go all out since it won't be up very long! I decided to not put my dishes out so I just added a table runner instead.
Table from the corner
Glass square vase with conversation hearts and red candle
Red Vase with white peony's and pink roses. This was my first flower arrangement and I know its not much but I was proud of it! I have also decided to go ahead and put my valentines together for my students. I bought the Valentines, added an eraser, pencil, candy, and bouncy ball. This particular valentine is for a girl.
Yesterday, my co-workers and I were trying to come up with an idea for a Valentine card for our students to make for their parents. My friend Carly had a really good idea to take their picture holding a poster that said I, another love, and finally you. She was going to make the three posters and take their picture holding each one. Then put the pictures in some kind of tri-fold card. I thought that was such a cute idea I had to share with my co-workers. We decided to still do a picture but not just like Carly's. I am in the process of making the poster right now. We are only going to have one poster that says LoVE. The O will be cut out and the student will put their face in it and we will take a picture. When we get the pictures developed the students will just glue their picture onto a folded cardstock paper and write a message inside. I'm pretty excited about it!! I think it will be super cute! Here is what I have done so far:
This is a white poster board covered with scrapbook paper
These are the letters that I cut out, they will not be green
I'm covering each letter with black glitter, except for the o. I will just glue it on and will cut out around it. I'm pretty excited! I think it will turn out cute! I will post a picture when it is completely finished! I'm also going to spray paint a lamp later today too! I will post pictures of that when I finish! Here is what it looks like at my house right now...
I took this about 25 minutes ago...now it is snowing harder and the flakes are huge! Hope you enjoy your snow day!
